Where to Go and How Long It Takes

For most regions of Ukraine, the most convenient way to reach Katowice is via the A4 motorway. The Polish A4 motorway starts at the border with Ukraine at the Krakovets (Ukraine) - Korczowa (Poland) border crossing. You can cross the border at other checkpoints, with the closest to the motorway being Hrushiv and Shehyni. In Poland, you don't need to enter Katowice to reach the airport. In Myslowice, you need to exit the A4 motorway and take the S1 road.

If you are near Krakow during the day, it's better to add 30 minutes to the travel time, as there may be traffic on the motorway, reducing speed significantly (to 50-80 km/h). However, this situation is only on the bypass around Krakow.

In Ukraine, the road to the Hrushiv checkpoint is in very poor condition, and in some places, you can only drive at a speed of 20 km/h. You need to drive not from Yavoriv directly to Hrushiv but through Nemiriv.

Toll payment on the A4 motorway is required from Krakow to the exit to the S1 road.
