Toll Roads
Roads in Croatia are paid at special payment points. The price depends on the vehicle category and the distance traveled on the highway.
In addition, some bridges and tunnels are paid separately.

Speed Limits
Standard speed limits in Croatia (unless indicated otherwise on signs).
Cars and motorcycles:- in populated areas – 50 km/h

- on expressways – 110 km/h

The minimum allowed speed on expressways and motorways is 60 km/h.
Speed limits for young drivers (under 24 years) are 10 km/h less than the posted limits.
Dipped Headlights
Dipped headlights are mandatory 24 hours a day, all year round.
During daylight hours (from sunrise to sunset) in conditions of normal visibility, daytime running lights can be used instead of dipped headlights.
Dipped headlights are mandatory in tunnels as well.

In most cities, street parking is paid.
Parking in Zagreb
On Sundays, parking in most places is free. Street parking in Zagreb is divided into three zones - red, yellow, and green.
The red zone is located close to the city center, while the yellow and green zones are farther away. The maximum parking time in the red zone is 1 hour, in the yellow zone - 2 hours, and in the green zone - 3 hours.
Tickets for payment are purchased at machines and placed on the dashboard under the windshield so that it is clearly visible from the outside.
Be careful and do not exceed the paid parking time. In case of parking violations, the wheels are clamped.

Street parking is divided into 4 zones. In "Zone I," there is a time limit of 2 hours. In "Zones II and III," there are no time restrictions. In "Zone IV," the limit is 20 minutes.

Insurance
For traveling abroad, a Green Card insurance policy is mandatory. Policies are valid for 15 days, 1 month, 2 months, etc. monthly up to 1 year.
We also recommend having a medical insurance policy insurance abroad.
And to drive on the territory of Ukraine, you need to have a valid motor vehicle policy.

Transporting Children
Children under the age of 3 must be transported in special seats on the front seats facing the direction of travel. The airbag must be deactivated.
Children aged 3 to 5 must be transported on the rear seat in special child restraint systems.
Children aged 5 and older must use a child seat appropriate to their weight or a booster and use regular seat belts.
Winter Tires, Studded Tires, Chains
Winter tires are mandatory from November 15 to April 15 only in the presence of snow or ice on the road. Summer tires with a tread depth of at least 4 mm and equipped with tire chains on the driving wheels can also be considered as winter tires. | |
Chains can only be used with a snow thickness of 5 cm or ice. In the Gorski Kotar and Lika regions, chains are mandatory regardless of tire type. | |
