Cost Calculation

When planning a trip for an accurate cost calculation of tolls, you can use the website:
https://www.autostrade.it/autostrade_en-gis/calcoloPedaggi.do
The toll cost calculation for Italian roads using this website is presented in the table below.

You can also calculate the cost yourself. It depends on three parameters: vehicle class, type of highway section (flat or mountainous), and the managing company.

Blue Lane  — self-service and payment only by card
White Lane — self-service, payment by cash or card
White Lane — operator service, payment by cash or card

- Varese ring road A60

Payment can be made through the website or using a mobile application, which can be downloaded from the same website: https://apl.pedemontana.com/paga-il-pedaggio

Parking in Italy

In most cities, street parking is paid and time-limited. Different parking zones are marked with appropriate road markings and signs.

Parking Zones

Blue Zone - Blue lines indicate either "pay and display" (pay at the parking meter and display the ticket on the windshield) or setting the time on the blue parking disc indicating the time of arrival. Blue discs can be purchased at banks, tourist offices, tobacco, and post offices.

White Zone - If parking is marked with white lines, it indicates that parking is free.

Yellow Zone - Indicates parking for disabled people or designated for delivery vehicles.

Blue (paid) Parking Zone

Payment in such zones should be made at a parking meter or kiosk, which should be nearby. Machines usually accept only coins. The cost varies depending on the city and location but is usually between 0.5 to 3 euros per hour.

White (free) Parking Zone

When stopping in such a zone, check the information on the sign. Often, there are time restrictions on such parking, and you may need a parking disc (disco orario). You can purchase it at tobacco kiosks (Tobacco). Set the arrival time on the disc.

The closer to the city center, the harder it is to find parking. Therefore, it's better to book a hotel with parking or park further from the center and walk or use public transportation.
