Parking in the Netherlands
Parking in Amsterdam
In most areas of Amsterdam, paid parking is in effect, but the parking fees vary. For example, in the city center, you will pay more than in the outskirts, and on some shopping streets, parking tickets cost only 10 cents.
Tariffs and parking hours change depending on the area on different days and times of the day. The rates are indicated on the map above. Click on the image to enlarge.
There may also be a car park or a covered garage in the area.
In places where paid parking (for now) does not apply, you may encounter the blue zone. In these zones, you are allowed to park only for a short period, clearly displaying the blue parking disc. You can purchase them at large department stores and gas stations. Before leaving your car, mark the time of your arrival on the blue parking disc. You can recognize the blue zone as it is marked by a nearby road sign. On this sign, you can see the maximum allowed parking time, as well as any additional conditions, such as specific hours during the day.
Instructions on how to pay at parking meters can be found on the City of Amsterdam website: https://www.amsterdam.nl/en/parking/paying-parking-machine-refund/
