Details about roads, speed limits, mandatory car equipment, and some rules of the road. For more detailed information on toll roads, petrol costs, parking, speed limits, etc., refer to the sections below.

Toll Roads

Travel on Albanian roads is free for vehicles registered in other countries.

Police on roads often use speed control radars, so be cautious.

Speed Limits

Standard speed limits in Albania (unless indicated otherwise on signs).

Cars and motorcycles:

• in urban areas – 40 km/h
• outside urban areas – 80 km/h
• on a road – 90 km/h
• on a highway – 110 km/h

Cars with trailers:

• in urban areas – 40 km/h
• outside urban areas – 60 km/h
• on a road – 70 km/h
• on a highway – 80 km/h

Low Beam Light

Low beam light is not mandatory during the day.

Mandatory low beam light in poor weather conditions and insufficient visibility.

Petrol Cost in Albania

Insurance

For traveling abroad, a Green Card insurance policy is mandatory. Policies are valid for 15 days, 1 month, 2 months, etc. monthly up to 1 year.
We also recommend having a medical insurance policy insurance abroad.
And to drive on the territory of Ukraine, you need to have a valid motor vehicle policy.

Mandatory Equipment

Equipment required in the car:

	Emergency stop sign
	Reflective vest – a reflective vest is mandatory for anyone exiting the car, during the day(!) or at night in case of a stop or accident. The vest should be in the car, not in the trunk.

Transporting Children

Children under 4 years old can only be transported in special restraint systems appropriate for their weight.

Children under 12 years old and up to 150 cm in height must be transported only in special seats.

Winter Tires, Studded Tires, Chains

	Winter tires are not mandatory in Albania.
	Chains can be used only if the road is completely covered with snow and ice from November 1 to April 30.
	Use of studded tires is allowed.
