Speed Limits in Cyprus

Standard speed limits in Cyprus (unless otherwise indicated on the signs).


Cars, motorcycles, vehicles with trailers:
  • in urban areas – 50 km/h
  • outside urban areas – 80 km/h
  • on the motorway – 100 km/h

Speeding is allowed in Cyprus.
  • in urban areas – 10% + 2 km/h
    50 km/h + (10% + 2 km/h) = 57 km/h
  • outside urban areas – 20%
    80 km/h + 20% = 96 km/h
  • on the motorway – 20%
    100 km/h + 20% = 120 km/h

Dipped Headlights

Dipped headlights are mandatory only during the dark hours, meaning they must be turned on 30 minutes after sunset and turned off no earlier than 30 minutes before sunrise.

Parking in Cyprus

Parking in central city areas is usually paid, approximately €2 — €3 for half a day and €1 — €2 per hour during weekdays and working hours. Parking is monitored by meters in the parking lots. On Saturday afternoons, Sundays, and holidays, the meters do not operate.

Stopping and parking are prohibited along double yellow lines. Along a single yellow line, loading and unloading are allowed, but parking is always prohibited.

Parking is free for registered disabled individuals.

Insurance

For traveling abroad, a Green Card insurance policy is mandatory. Policies are valid for 15 days, 1 month, 2 months, etc. monthly up to 1 year.
We also recommend having a medical insurance policy insurance abroad.
And to drive on the territory of Ukraine, you need to have a valid motor vehicle policy.

Mandatory Equipment

Transporting Children

Children under 5 years old can only be transported in the rear seats

Children under 10 years old must be transported in child seats that correspond to their weight

Winter Tires, Studded Tires, Chains

Winter tires are not mandatory.
Chains can only be used if the road is completely covered with snow and ice.
Studded tires are allowed only on mountain roads in winter.


Use of navigators indicating the location of fixed speed control cameras is prohibited.
