Toll Roads

In Azerbaijan, there is only one toll highway, M1. It connects the border with Russia to Baku. The toll section is 129 km long. There are toll collection points at the beginning and end of the highway, as well as at exits in the cities of Gilyazi, Siyazan, Gandob, and Khachmaz.

Speed Limits

Standard speed limits in Azerbaijan (unless otherwise indicated on signs).

Cars:

• in built-up areas – 60 km/h
• outside built-up areas – 90 km/h
• on roads with two lanes in one direction – 90 km/h
• on highways – 110 km/h

Cars with trailers:

• in built-up areas – 60 km/h
• outside built-up areas – 70 km/h
• on roads with two lanes in one direction – 70 km/h
• on highways – 90 km/h

Motorcycles:

• in built-up areas – 60 km/h
• outside built-up areas – 90 km/h
• on roads with two lanes in one direction – 90 km/h
• on highways – 90 km/h

Headlights

Required only during nighttime, in tunnels, or in conditions of poor visibility.

Parking in Azerbaijan

Parking in Baku

Parking zones in Baku are divided into 4. However, the zones are not clearly defined, with complex boundaries, so be careful and check the information on road signs. Parking is paid from Monday to Saturday from 07:00 to 22:00.

Parking rates in Baku are as follows:

To pay, after parking your car, you need to send an SMS to the number 1181 with the car's license plate number, the parking number, and the parking space number (cell). For example, 00-XX-000-00000-00 (first – license plate, second – parking number, third – parking space number). Before leaving, you need to send an SMS with the word SON to the same number 1181, after which the parking fee will be deducted from your balance.

Winter Tires, Studded Tires, Chains

	Winter tires are not mandatory in Azerbaijan.
	Use of snow chains is not regulated.
	Use of studded tires is allowed. A corresponding sign must be placed on the rear of the vehicle equipped with studded tires.
